And the award goes to...

Catherine Scott - We are so proud and slightly in awe of our very own Head of Legal.
Last week, at the Opening of the Legal Year dinner, Cath was awarded the Law Society of Tasmania President’s Award for 2025, a prestigious annual award given to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the Tasmanian legal profession and/or is an outstanding example to the legal profession.
If you were lucky enough to attend the dinner and hear Cath’s exceptional acceptance speech, then you know just how dedicated she is to the legal sector in Tasmania. In her career, not only has Cath excelled in terms of her contribution towards client work, but her contribution to progressing the legal system in Tasmania, and particularly the role of women within that system, is unparalleled.
Cath has undertaken specialised training to lead various workshops in sexual harassment and workplace culture. Cath also facilitated the mandatory Changing Workplace Culture, Sexual Harassment training seminar, taking responsibility for and providing the entire legal profession with increased awareness and professional development in this area. As a current member of the Wellbeing Committee of the Law Society of Tasmania, Cath is committed to promoting positive work culture within the Tasmanian legal field.
Cath joined ConMoto Group in October 2020 and has established herself as a leading expert in dispute resolution and administrative law, regularly acting for clients in discrimination and sexual harassment matters. Cath’s ongoing hard work and dedication to her profession has significantly raised the profile of gender equality through the application of legal principles.
Cath’s ongoing cutting edge legal work, culminated in a groundbreaking victory in 2024 with the MONA’s Ladies Lounge Appeal. Her innovative argument before the Court—that the Ladies Lounge promotes equal opportunity by subverting societal norms and offering women a rare advantage—has set a legal precedent and underscored her commitment to advancing equity and inclusion within society through the application of legal principles.
Cath has been a stand-out in the Tasmanian legal profession for many years and we cannot think of another person more deserving of this award and the recognition that comes with it. Her contributions extend far beyond the individual cases that she works on. Her work exemplifies a profound dedication to the Tasmanian community, the legal profession, and the principles of justice, and everyone at ConMoto is so proud of her, and most importantly, inspired by her.
